Welcome to another edition of Meet the Staff! This month we are going to our Union City office to meet Branch Office Manager, Raquel Peña. Raquel was born to Dominican parents. She grew up in different cities/countries, but was born in the Dominican Republic. She moved with her parents to New York at the age of 8, and then moved to New Hampshire for a short period of time. She returned to the Dominican Republic at the age of 13, and stayed there until she got married at 21 years-old. She has been in New Jersey since. [Read more…]

Recently one of our staff members, Vanessa Mejia was involved in a tragic event. There was a fire in her home on September 22nd, leaving her with very little to salvage except for some clothes and personal belongings. This tragic event has placed Vanessa and her two young children in need. A recent United States District Court for the District of New Jersey decision has held that a foreclosing bank in possession of property may be found to have a duty similar to that of the prior owner with regard to the maintenance and inspection of the foreclosed property. This decision helps to protect people injured on vacant or occupied property previously foreclosed upon where the injured party may have previously had no recourse for the pain, suffering and economic loss sustained due to the negligent condition of property.
