Consolidated Edison Manager Burned in Manhole Explosion
Contract negotiations broke down in New York between Consolidated Edison and management recently, leading to a lockout, according to news reports. Consolidated Edison is responsible for maintaining much of the electrical power and natural gas systems throughout New York City. Although both sides are reportedly working on ending the lockout, Consolidated Edison management has stepped in to replace the workers who have been forced off the job while negotiations continue. New Jersey Woman Wins $750,000 Settlement in Dram Shop Law Case
A 61-year-old New Jersey woman recently settled a drunk driving accident claim for $750,000. According to news reports, $500,000 of the settlement will be paid by the insurer for the establishment where the drunk driver was drinking prior to the accident.
